Prof. Chris van Weel ist Professor für Primary Health Care Research an der Australian National University in Canberra. Von 1985-2012 war er als Professor für Allgemeinmedizin und Leiter des Departments für Primary and Community Care an der Radboud University Nijmegen in den Niederlanden tätig. Er war von 2007- 2010 Präsident der World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA).
